Summer time is here and with it a new season. Each new season brings with it a new range of factors and a new set of oils you may need to alleviate ailments and allergies. So let’s talk about your essential summer oils.
Lavender is always my go-to oil no matter what the season. It has the power to relax as well as having the healing power where burns occur including sunburn. Add to that its great for headaches, insomnia and perfect to counter the negative effects sweating can cause the skin.
This strong smelling oil is another essential oil perfect for the summer. Again, it is great for using on topical wounds, but also can be used for insect and tick bites.
Another calming oil, Chamomile Roman is perfect for hot summer’s days. Its sweet floral scent can be added to a diffuser to relax during those hot stuffy nights but is also great for soothing skin irritations after overexposure to the sun or insect bites.
Chamomile German is a natural anti-inflammatory which can help with reducing swelling and bruises. Mixing 4 drops of German Chamomile to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil, rub into the affected area.
Peppermint has a cooling effect, ideal for those hot summer’s days by the pool. make you our peppermint rollerball by adding a 5% dilution to sweet almond oil and applying to your neck.
Peppermint is also great at helping reduce motion sickness and driving fatigue. Add a drop to a tissue and wedge it inside your car’s air vent on road trips. It can also be used with lavender to help headaches. add a drop of each oil to a tablespoon of carrier oil and massage into your forehead and back of the neck.
